No. 17 Dated 17 January 2025

Message From Mrs Dance

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another week of learning has been and gone, time flies when you are having fun!

It has been great to see amazing attendance across the school. We do understand the frustration when letters about attendance are received, please be assured that whilst we are obligated to follow expectations that are set out by the government, we want to do our utmost to support all of our children and families to ensure that they thrive and succeed with their learning by being in school. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate in contacting our attendance officer via email: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or access our attendance page on the school website by clicking on the following link: Attendance Information Page>>

This week we welcomed teacher training students for their final placement across the school. We pride ourselves in supporting new teachers into the profession and so it is fantastic to see so many of them at Vigo. I am sure that you will join me in welcoming them to our community.

Finally last Saturday we hosted our final Stay and Play session for new Year R 2025 family admissions. It was a fantastic morning, where we were able to give a little taster of our school to potential new families. Mr Hodgson, Miss Marta and Mr Holmes were there to carry out sessions in forest school, art and sport. It was lovely to hear amazing comments not only about the curriculum offered but also about our school as a whole.  Go team Vigo!

As we start to see glimmers of lighter mornings, I wish you all a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Dance

Headteacher

Attendance this week

Please think carefully before keeping your child away from school.

As parents and carers you have a responsibility to inform the school before 9.00am every day if your child will not be in school, this can be done via the Arbor app, by emailing the attendance email address: attendance@vigo.hants.sch.uk or by calling the school and selecting option 1.

Lateness

We noticed a significant rise in lateness last term.

Please ensure your child is at school at 8:35am ready for the school day. You may be invited into school for a meeting with our Attendance Support Worker if lateness is persistent. Unfortunately, due to updated government guidelines, non-attendance of this meeting could result in a penalty notice or referral to the Legal Intervention Team.

Request from Year R

Can you help?

Exciting news...Year R are attempting to build an igloo in their outside area butMilk Jug Igloo | Teach Us Something need lots of milk bottles to be the 'ice bricks'. Please pass on any 4 pint milk bottles to any of the Year R team. These need to be thoroughly cleaned and dried before use. If they could be un-stickered and with lids on that would be even better.

Thank you! Keep a look-out for our Grand Design being built over the coming weeks.

Y6 visited Milestones Museum to enhance their history learning. The children really enjoyed learning in a practical way about WW2 from the expert educational leaders. The staff informed us the children were really engaged and focused throughout the day and represented the school brilliantly (as always).
