Emotional Health & Wellbeing

We all know that looking after our own and our family’s physical health is important. We are able to do this by making positive choices about the food we eat and the exercise we do, but we also need to be aware that our emotional and mental wellbeing need looking after too.

Emotional health and wellbeing is about how you’re feeling and how well you are able to deal with every day activities.

Many, think about wellbeing in terms of what you have; your income, car, house or job, but evidence shows that what we do and the way we think have the biggest impact on wellbeing.

Emotional wellness gives us the ability to handle life’s stresses and difficult times.

There are some simple steps that you can take in order to improve how you feel each day. They don’t take up much time and they don’t have to cost anything either.

They’re known as the 5 ways of Wellbeing and they are:

  • Be Active
  • Connect
  • Give
  • Keep Learning
  • Take Notice

These are evidence-based public mental health messages aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing. These 5 ways are being promoted by the NHS and Mind and as a school we promote these 5 ways of Wellbeing throughout. You will start to notice that when we have any information to give around school or on our website there will also be a coloured petal relating to one or more of the 5 ways to wellbeing which it will relate too.

If you would like to find out more about what you could do with your family to promote the 5 Ways to Wellbeing or for support which is on offer that fit into one or more of the 5 ways then click on the documents below:
